We have a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Not only do we work very hard to integrate residents into our community and feel at home, we’re also committed to making families feel at home here too. The following are some of the measures we take to help our residents settle in and also help family members feel comfortable and get involved:

• Residents Council: Our Residents Council greets each new resident with a welcome basket and helps them meet other residents and get involved in our activities and programs.
• Personalize Your Room: Each resident has their own private room so we encourage residents and their family to paint and decorate their room and bring in personal treasures to create a feeling of home.
• Meet Your Guardian Angel: On arrival, family members are assigned a Guardian angel to serve as a single point of contact, who will answer questions, introduce them to staff, and conduct regular follow ups to enquire about any issues or concerns.
• Family Council: Our Family Council actively engages new family members to attend and participate in monthly information and education nights where they can meet other family members and feel welcomed. We also listen to our Family Council when they bring forth suggestions for improvements to our home.
• Open Door Policy: Our open door policy means we’re available whenever a family member wants to talk. Plus, our social worker is always available to talk privately about coping with the stress and emotions of caregiving.
• Family Participation: Family members are invited and encouraged to attend any of our events or to dine with their loved ones.
• Resident Care Plan: Family members are also actively involved in the development and review of our individual Care Plan for their loved one.

We connect you to the community.

Maintaining strong connections to others is essential to keeping people active and involved.

Getting you out into the community and bringing the community into our home is important to your quality of life. Here are some of the ways in which the residents and staff get involved with the community, and how the community connects with us:

• Resident Outings: There are twice monthly group outings accompanied by staff during which residents may go shopping at the mall, have lunch at a local restaurant or travel to the casino in Windsor amoung other destinations.
• Community Events: If there is any event in the community that a large enough group of residents are interested in attending, we will organize it for them.
• Fashion Show: We organize a Fashion Show fundraiser with the assistance of the Knights of Columbus. Some of our residents act as models and the event is very popular with all residents, family members and the community in general. Proceeds go to our Residents Council to fund future activities.
• Home Events: We also host a number of smaller events throughout the year such as car washes, barbecues and craft and bake sales to raise funds for the Residents Council.
• Intergenerational Program: We participate in an Intergenerational Program with the Grade 3 class from a nearby elementary school.
• Community Charity Support: Our Residents Council actively supports the Alzheimer’s Society as well as the Humane Society.
• Transportation Initiative: The Family Council is an advocate for better transportation services for all seniors in the community and actively lobbies our local MPP on the issue.
• Student Placement Opportunities: We provide student placements and co-op openings for RN, RPN, Social Work, Psychology and Business students from St. Clair College and the University of Windsor.
