Quality care is our top priority.

Caring for people is at the core of everything we do.

Commitment to Continuous Improvement | Every day, we strive to enhance quality of care for those we serve

At Extendicare, we are relentless in our efforts to improve the quality of care we provide to our residents, patients, and clients.

We have committed to continuously measure and improve our performance. Enabled by the skills and dedication  of our 27,500 team members across Canada, our delivery of high-quality care is guided by our Values, including embracing every person for the individual they are and caring for each person as we would our own family.

Evaluating our Care and Services

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, Extendicare voluntarily participates in a national accreditation process, in partnership with Accreditation Canada, to assess our services and help us improve our quality, safety, effectiveness, and experience for residents and families.

For more than 60 years, Accreditation Canada has been working with health, social and community service organizations to advance quality and safety. To learn more about Accreditation Canada, visit accreditation.ca.

Celebrating our Care Champions

Quality care is grounded in a culture of team support. Through our national Care Champion program, we recognize our team members for their incredible contributions as nominated by their peers, residents, patients, and families, and we celebrate them for going above and beyond to improve care, every day for our residents and clients.

How can you nominate a Care Champion?

You can nominate future candidates for a Care Champion award by emailing the name of the person you are nominating, and why they deserve to be recognized, to communications@extendicare.com. Please include your contact information and the name of your home.

Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness

Extendicare follows the standard health care emergency colour code system and international Incident Management System functions when responding to emergencies.

Under our comprehensive fire and emergency preparedness programs, all Extendicare homes conduct monthly fire and emergency preparedness drills and provide education to ensure all team members and residents are aware of and practice their responsibilities in an emergency.

All Extendicare homes have a home specific Fire Safety Plan and Emergency Response Plan that are reviewed and updated annually.
