Determined to thrive: How the clinical team at Extendicare Starwood helped Doreen on her journey to strength and wellness

When Doreen arrived at Extendicare Starwood, she was in critical condition. Suffering from a severe pressure ulcer and other complications, the care team at her local hospital had given her just 72 hours to live.

Despite this, the Starwood team saw Doreen’s fighting spirit and they developed a personalized care plan that involved support from wound care specialists, personal support workers, a physiotherapist, physician, and dietitian to support Doreen’s recovery and journey to strength and wellness.

Meet Malcolm: Volunteer extraordinaire

Walk the halls of Cedars Villa in Calgary, AB, with Malcolm and you’ll see people’s faces light up when they see him. Malcolm volunteers at the home six days a week, escorting residents to and from meals and activities.
